South Carolina Wage Loss Claims
An Overview Provided by David L. Hood, a South Carolina Wage Loss Claims Attorney
There are various schemes an employer can use to deny workers' their correct wages. One common way is to misclassify employees by saying someone’s a "manager" when in fact they are not. This allows the employer to not pay overtime, when they would have to pay overtime (if the employee were properly classified). Another way is to force workers to work through their lunch breaks or not pay them for the time it takes to put on protective clothing neccessary for work. A third way is to use independent contractors in order to pay lower wages to save money. In fact the so called "independent contractors" are employees in everything except their name.
